A New Life!

Saying good-bye to the Connecticut family, we flew to Jacksonville, FL and planned to head up to Brunswick and the boat in our rental car the following day.  The operative word here is ‘planned’.

We received a call from Jim’s sister, Donna, still visiting in CT.  Jim’s niece, Heather, was having difficulties with her pregnancy and was in a Jacksonville hospital.  A few hours later, we picked Donna up at the Jax airport and headed to Baptist Memorial.  Two days later, Hayden Christopher Elijah Hartley entered the world at 1 pound 12 ounces!

Little Hayden

Hayden and his Mom are doing very well.  As I write this, 2 weeks have passed and Hayden is now 2 pounds and thriving in his warm incubator.  He will probably stay in the NICU until early June.

Welcome to the world, Hayden!  God bless you and your Mom and Dad.

The day before Thanksgiving, all of the Jacksonville family met at Marie Callendars for turkey dinner.  We boarded a flight home on Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed another Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday with Katie and family, as well as Kyle’s parents and grandmother.  Just eating our way across the U.S.A.

Ryan, Erica, Rowan and Silas came for Christmas in Colorado.  It was wonderful being all together.

Mid-February, we headed back to the boat via Connecticut to be with Jim’s sister, Joan, for her 82nd birthday.

Soon, we’ll be back on Bazinga and heading north.  This time, we’re gonna appreciate the warm spring weather of the South!
