Well, this past year has been a wild ride! We sure have learned A LOT about boats. We’ve
seen and experienced so many different places, people and foods! There have been moments of anxiety and
stress, offset with fun and adventure.
We’ve spent more than expected on boat repairs and trips to see the
grandkids. Yet, we were able to make it
all work. It’s been an excellent year.
After many discussions and soul-searching we’ve
decided to take this love of the water and boats in a different direction – to locales much closer to our children and grandchildren. Spending time with three wonderful
grandchildren under the age of 6 is more precious to us than spending months
away on a boat on the East Coast. These tender
years whiz by so quickly and soon they will be too busy for Mimi and Pa.
Sharing the
joys of the water with them is easier to accomplish by being in the West. A trailerable trawler may be the
solution. We can plop it in San Diego
Bay for several months while we play with the CA grandkids and also take it to
wonderful destinations like Lake Tahoe, San Juan Islands, British Columbia. Then there is Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge
to explore with our CO grandson.
We still hope to do the Great Loop – but probably in pieces, rather than a whole big bite of continuous travel. Canada’s canals, Georgian Bay and the North Channel still call to us.
So, it is
with mixed emotions that we have put Bazinga
up for sale in New Bern, NC. She’s a
wonderful boat and in great shape. We
constantly receive compliments on her lines and livability. We’ve been blessed and we hope to share that
blessing with her new owners – whoever those lucky people turn out to be.
This blog may ‘rest’ for awhile, but we have
every intention to keep the adventures going! Check back now and again for the next installment - Bazinga II!
Even unloading a boat takes a lot of work.....and a sense of humor!
